Should you review Hatchet 3? (Decker Shado review)
Wiki Article
Hatchet 3 was the film that was a horror in the Hatchet trilogy. It follows Victor Crowley's murderous rampage through Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp. Kane Hodder plays Victor Crowley, Brian Quinn portrays Deputy Winslow, Rileah vanderbilt portrays Misty.
The strength of the movie lies in its practical special effects. Hatchet 3 uses a majority of makeup effects that are practical as well as sets. This is different from the majority of horror films nowadays that heavily rely on CG effects. It also features several truly terrifying moments.
The cast delivers a solid performance, with Kane Hodder standing out as an incredibly intimidating villain. It feels like an '80s slasher movie, with the dialogue being somewhat funny and snarky. There are also some truly funny moments that offer an entertaining contrast to the heart-wrenching action.
Unfortunately, due to the budget being small (1 million dollars) most of the (blog) locations are duplicates from earlier films. The boat house in Hatchet 2 was used only once, and the rest of the footage feels like it's been duplicated from previous films. The Hatchet and Hatchet 2 films may feel like it's a familiar film.
Overall, Hatchet 3 was an enjoyable series. I liked the gory thrills it offered and the entertaining performances of its actors.
